The very first document issued by the Second Vatican Council was The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy (CSL). In it, the Council fathers identified the “reform and promotion of the liturgy” as foundational to its purposes of imparting “increasing vigor to the Christian life of the faithful,” fostering Christian unity, and strengthening its outreach to all humanity (CSL1).

Calling the liturgy “the outstanding means whereby the faithful may express in their lives and manifest to others the mystery of Christ and the real nature of the true Church” (CSL2), the Council expressed its “earnest desire” that “all the faithful be led to that full, conscious and active participation in liturgical celebrations” that “is their right and duty by reason of their baptism.”  In fact, such participation was “the aim to be considered before all else.” (CSL14)

FCA takes its name from CSL14 when it urges Full, Conscious, and Active participation.  FCA is committed to this vision and strives to play a small part in bringing it to realization by designing written materials that enhance the celebration of liturgy, and by offering workshops and prayer experiences that both catechize and inspire participants to embrace the vision.

FCA is a ministry providing liturgical support to parishes and faith communities who are committed to the vision of Vatican II.
